About
Welcome to Three Virtues Vegetarian Restaurant, a charming haven located in the bustling heart of North Point, Hong Kong. Situated on King’s Road, this culinary gem is specifically crafted for lovers of Chinese vegetarian cuisine. With its spacious dining area and an extensive menu, Three Virtues emerges as a go-to spot for both locals and tourists eager to explore the rich flavors of plant-based dining.
As you step inside, the vibrant atmosphere welcomes you, hinting at the delights to come. The restaurant features a well-appointed dining room, comfortably seating around 400 guests, making it ideal for both intimate gatherings and larger groups. Anecdotes from diners like Wu KY and Roger Yang reveal a common thread: the impressive variety of dim sum, particularly during breakfast and lunch hours, showcases the restaurant's commitment to providing delicious meals that are also good value for money.
The menu at Three Virtues is a vegetarian's dream, artfully crafted to mimic the textures and flavors of traditional non-vegetarian dishes. Diners rave about standout dishes such as the vegetarian fake shark fin soup and the sweet and sour fish. Each dish is a testament to the culinary prowess of the chefs, who skillfully recreate beloved classics while adhering to a plant-based ethos. Inspired by reviews from food enthusiasts, it’s clear that even the most seasoned meat-lovers will find something to savor here.
However, it is the dim sum that truly shines at Three Virtues. Diners have lauded the quality and freshness of the dumplings, with delightful options like chiu chao style dumplings and vegetarian squid. Flavorful broths accompany dishes, enhancing the overall dining experience. Although some patrons have noted that service can be slightly slow, their attentiveness ensures that every guest feels valued. As recommended by guests like Geoff Trimpol, arriving with friends allows for shared plates and a broader tasting experience—something that I highly encourage.
While the ambiance reflects a typical 90s Chinese dining aesthetic, the inviting decor, which includes plush fabrics and elegant drapes, offers a comforting setting to enjoy meals. It's worth noting, as CY Siu mentions, that service might occasionally miss a beat but the food remains the star of the show—non-oily, well-prepared, and distinctly flavorful.
In conclusion, Three Virtues Vegetarian Restaurant is more than just a dining option—it's a culinary journey that introduces patrons to the richness of vegetarian Chinese cuisine. Whether you're a dedicated herbivore or simply searching for delicious new tastes, this restaurant promises a delightful experience that honors tradition while embracing innovation.

“ Typical 90s chinese restaurant with lots of seating space. Really good food and service is ok. The rating is more so for food as they did forget one of orders. All the dishes here were very good, tasty and non oily. ”
“ If you walk by, you think it’s a takeout counter next to the sidewalk. Upstairs, it’s quite an enormous and well appointed dining room that could probably seat about 400 very comfortably. The dim sum menu is much more affordable than the dinner menu, however, I’m sure the main courses at dinner can be shared amongst three or four easily. The dining room is extremely bright with windows onto Kings Road, and the tables are set with lovely dishes, cloth, tablecloths, But like most Chinese restaurants, no napkins, so bring your tissue or get some paper towels from the bathroom after you’ve washed your hands. The variety of both dim sum and dinner dishes is extensive, and even a bit daunting to someone for the first time. They started me off with some Jasmine tea, which was a very good quality. After the pot is about half empty, remove the lid and ask for more hot water. I started off with the deep fried spring rolls stuffed with taro shreds and vegetarian shrimp,, which is a serving of three cut in half, with some black vinegar to dip in. Surprisingly they were served at room temperature, much like the takeout counter downstairs. I ordered three dumpling dishes, the chiu chao style dumplings, the dumpling stuffed with vegetarian, squid and spinach, and the Canton style fungus and Omni meat dumplings. All of them were hot and fresh, one of them was served in clear broth, which was flavourful and the portion of wontons extremely generous, although the broth could have been a few degrees hotter. Servers are efficient and deliver food promptly from a rolling trolley. However, I asked for some chilli sauce to add a little bite to the bland spinach dumpling, and would recommend downloading the off-line vocabulary in Google Translate. I was fortunate to have a diner at the next table translate for me. The chilli sauce that they brought was slightly salty and added a nice note. As usual, I washed my hands before the meal to realize that they share the lavatories with the Chinese department store next-door. That would probably be the best way for someone in a wheelchair to access the restaurant. The bathroom was clean and well appointed with soap and paper towels. At the entry, they have signs that they accept MasterCard and Visa, and like everywhere else in Hong Kong take Octopus as payment as well. I used to be a big fan of the Shanghai style vegetarian restaurant when my hotel was in Kowloon and Central, but after Covid when I visited the new location in Causeway Bay, I found the prices higher, and the choices more limited. This is now a much more favoured alternative, and I was teetering on giving them 4 1/2 stars for the food quality. My table was next to a pillar that was missing the stainless steel corner trim piece, however, the design of mirrors underneath light wood gives the impression of space and breaks up the vast expanse into much a more intimate human scale. Chairs are comfortable and covered in a golden brocade fabric, the purple drapes at the window are elegant, the carpets are a bit worn, and the colours a bit off, but the staff are constantly cleaning and sweeping. The temperature in the dining room is comfortable, neither mall, air conditioning, cold, and drafty or uncomfortably warm. I will definitely return, hopefully with three or four friends so that we can order many more dishes, and I will take screenshots of how to ask for soy sauce and chilli paste on my Google translate for the next visit. ”
“ This Chinese vegetarian restaurant offers good selection of dishes. They try to imitate the textures and flavours of non-vegetarian food and all are tasty and some do look like non-vegetarian food! Love their vegetarian fake shark fin soup, sweet and sour fish and salt and pepper deep fried pork. Service was slightly slow but staffs were very attentive. ”
“ I'm surprised this isn't rated higher (3.8 stars right now). The food is great, with a huge variety. For tourists, it's a very Hong Kong experience. Quite a large place, very busy. No napkins provided, typical for this type of place. ”
“ An ordinary typical Cantonese vegetarian restaurant with an extensive menu. Food was really good. Not oily at all for normal restaurant food. Not overly salty. It wasn’t busy when we went on a weeknight. I like it. ”
“ Good variety of dim sum in the morning and lunch. Delicious and good value for money. Recommended for those who would like to try Chinese vegetarian dishes and dim sum. ”
“ Front facade of a building is just normal. Maybe below average. But the moment you reach the dining area it’s aWAO feeling. It’s beautiful fine dining place for a memorable yYUM CHA The whole experience of washing your cup plates in hot water in a kettle already placed on all the tables along with a kettle of hot jasmine tea. We ordered turnip pancakes, sponge cake, pine nuts fried rice , vegetarian chicken with vermicelli sheet in sesame dressing, vegetarian shark fin soup and deep fried turnip. I wish they could remove all the non vegetarian names from the dishes. But their food was yumm. Sponge cake is out of this world and so were the turnip pancakes deep fried turnip and vermicelli was also good. Their quantity of food served is also good. Service is fast. Only felt that staff has no nonsense attitude so kind of felt cold vibes from them. Otherwise must visit this restaurant ”
